Maintenance Tips You Need To Know
Posted On May 3, 2016
Although autumn is quite a beautiful season, it can be quite messy too. Your garden will be covered with leaves and your roof will be filled with debris. This means that you will have to clean the house more often. Most people disregard the importance of this task. If you do not maintain your house on a regular basis, autumn can cause significant damage to your house. This is why it is important for you to follow the tips given below.
Clean the lawn
During this season, cleaning the lawn is not an option. If you do not want your lawn to look like a jungle, you have to clean the leaves every other day. When you fail to get rid of these leaves, it can lead to insect infestations, especially when the leaves get wet. You can either shred the leaves or simply rake them off the lawn. Do not procrastinate this task since you will have to clean a bigger pile the next day.
Inspect the roof
Hire a professional to examine your roof. You need to identify the wear and tear in the area before it deteriorates and results in serious damage. Check the shingles carefully. If they are crackling, you need to replace them immediately. If the roof overflows when it rains, you will have to make a downspout and gutter replacement as well.
Clean the Gutter
Your gutter and drains need to be regularly cleaned. If they are filled with debris, your house will definitely suffer during winter. Check on the downspouts and see whether they are blocked by leaves. If they are, clean them immediately. If this passage is blocked, the water will begin to overflow from the roof when it starts to rain. Moreover, check whether you need a gutter replacement too.
You can put the fallen leaves in your compost pile or even use it as mulch. Do not waste them by burning or throwing them in the garbage. These leaves contain natural nutrients and organic matter. Instead of wasting your money on artificial compost, you can use natural compost produced by your own hands. If you have flower beds in your garden, these can be used to create winter blanket too. This way, you can ensure that the plants in your garden will receive the nutrients they need during winter. Of course, this is a lot of work. However, you do not have to do all this by yourself. It is easier to hire a professional agency to do it for you.
